
I have actually tried the Yoplait Frozen Smoothie mixes before so I knew they were quite tasty :) My Blog Spark recently asked me to offer a giveaway and send me one too so of course I agreed. Honestly, when you can get these on sale and pay just $1, it’s a great value. The mixes already have the fruit and flavoring already packaged together (as opposed to my tablespoon of sugar-free jello to flavor my homemade smoothies).
When I was active in the heavy weight loss phase (meaning, not challenged by these last pesky 10 pounds), I ALWAYS had fruit on hand to help me curb the cravings for something sweet. I found that in the evenings, after dinner, I wanted something. It was mostly mental because I wasn’t hungry at all. Whenever I had that craving, I would make myself a smoothie (and the kids too – I can’t have one without the kids sharing).
When a craving hits, time is of the essence, right? I tend to go for what’s quickest over what’s the most healthful option. So, knowing that I would want this sweet treat, I stockpile the fresh fruit when I can get it cheap. I then just cup it up and freeze for our smoothies. Buying produce in-season is more cost-effective than purchasing frozen fruit. However, these Yoplait Smoothie mixes are great to have on hand because I am completely out of my frozen fruit stash. I have all sorts of cravings being pregnant: chocolate, chips, cheese, donuts, bananas…. the list goes on and on. The cravings are pretty much all the time and I still haven’t found a good way to fight them in this condition.

The hardest time is in the evening when all I want to do is unwind and read or watch TV but out of the blue I start thinking of what’s to eat and before I know it I’m off to the kitchen : ( My will power is running on empty!

I fight the cravings at night! No time in the morning (barely time to eat breakfast) and no time during the day (barely time to eat lunch), but at night I have recently been losing the battle against drinking soda. (And I was doing so well for a while with just water and one cola a week, and then I slipped. :-( )

Lately, my cravings are mid-morning, when I’m at work and have limited access to good stuff – the vending machine sure looks tempting. I’ve filled my desk drawer with an assortment of bars, at least if I munch, it is reasonably healthy. Used to be evenings and the best cure was to go to bed – if I stayed up I would munch – usually for no good reason.

I am a teacher so I eat my tiny lunch at 11:30 a.m. so by the time I get home around 5 I am famished. My hardest time to avoid snacking is while I am making dinner and helping the kids with their homework. Hubby is not always able to get home for 6 dinner so it is always a dilemma – eat dinner without him, snack, or worse!

I fight cravings mid-afternoon at work, when I’m home mid-afternoon I’m fine! I try to drink a glass of water, a diet coke or a cup of green tea but sometimes that doesn’t do the trick and I end up getting a pack of twizzler’s out of the vending machine. I know, tisk, tisk, tisk!!!
