There isn’t one!
Just write what you want, when you want, why you want!
For those {in the blogging community} that feel the need to tell me, encourage me or suggest things to ME to do with MY blog, save your breath and your wrists from carpel tunnel.
I started this blog to offer help. I will continue writing this blog to be of help to others. If MY blog has morphed into something else, then it’s MY blog to allow that to happen, right? I hope others consider that too.
I am blogging with a passion! Here’s a thought, for those people wasting their time telling me what to do with MY blog, maybe consider going back to why you started blogging in the first place. Find that passion again and share that! Just sayin’ it’s a thought :)
So, yeah, this isn’t a Rule Book on Blogging. But, if it were, I would start with this: there are NO RULES!
That is all :)
Oh, and if I see you at BlogHer next week, I am excited to meet you!

You got it, girl!
If you’re adding to the web by helping or creating community via your personal passion(s), then that’s all that matters.
Love Jenny’s title, too!!

I wish more people will get it!! I am just so disappointed by what’s going on and that we are letting others narrowly define us under the name “mommy bloggers.” Realize it people!! there’s more to blog about that your children or husband.

Teresa – I had to joke about the *rules* because there are bloggers out there who think they are the rule makers because they may have been doing this longer than me and many others.
It’s sad that they feel they need to behave that way – creating controversy does bring traffic but it won’t last (and it’s just plain rude and ugly).

Thanks for all the sweet comments! This has been a topic brewing in the blogosphere for a while. Again, no one directed anything to me (as far as I know), but I felt it needed said. These self righteous bloggers who want to make all the rules clearly need to realize what their passion is. Maybe it is creating controvery and acting like experts??? That doesn’t fly with me!

I couldn’t agree with you more. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

I love reading your blog! Whatever you write!
[Reply]
Just so you know, I LOVE you…. and everything you write!
Keep up the good work, Andrea. You are definitely one of my favorites!

Thanks so much for your series on blogging. It has been very helpful!
[Reply]
Amen! You are exactly right. That’s how I feel. It’s my blog so I write what I want when I want. I created another blog to do reviews and giveaways because I wanted to do reviews and giveaways but not on my personal blog. It works for me. It might not work for everyone but it does for me. Thanks for the reminder that there are no rules except the ones you impose for yourself!!!

Carolyn – go YOU! These bloggers just talking to hear themselves, make it seem like others are doing it wrong because they are evolving. Maybe if they evolved a little they wouldn’t have to be so controversial and consider us *commercialized*. Ridonkulous!

Well sounds like some people have been rough on you lately. I think that most people start with a blog and what they want that blog to be and it turns into a bunch of stuff. I know mine did.
If people want to leave nice comments or wonder if you might be interested in expanding on a subject then that is one thing but if they don’t like your blog or want it to be something else, then don’t visit and or start your own. Blogging is so awesome and I dont understand the need to leave comments if you have nothing good to say there are plenty of other blogs to find.
Keep up your good work. I like your blog the way it is.

Paula – it has been directed at me necessarily. I just felt the need to tell them to zip it, really. I don’t care what they have to say and it’s thrown in my face every 5 seconds when I’m on twitter.
I am definitely open to critique or suggestions from my readers – they are the reason I do this. But, for other bloggers who don’t know my readers like I do, they can just ZIP IT! We have different audiences and I know what works best here.

Right on, Andrea! But you forgot. There is a rule. Just one: don’t copy and paste stuff from blogs and pass it off as your own work. (Not saying YOU did, but hey, it happens!)
I am SO excited about finally meeting you face to face at BlogHer! Get your autograph-signing pen ready for me! ;)

A, yes, that one does seem like a no brainer, huh but sadly it still happens :( And, I don’t know who I’m gonna squeeze first…you or Collin!! Can’t wait!

You. Go. Girl. Love your blog, more now than ever :)

My alt title is “Do as I say, Not as I do” because most people who are writing these so called “rule” on blogging on the ones breaking all the rules! But yet, they think they have higher standards!

B, AMEN!!! Hipocrisy at it’s finest…For people who see the posts and know those bloggers, they totally know that. Guess it’s OK for them but not others? Jealousy or Threatened?? hmmmmm
[Reply]
You are so funny! Someone’s always gotta put in their 2 cents. If they don’t like it, move on. No one is forcing you to come to MommySnacks or anywhere else for that matter. Right?

Becky, nope – no one forces them to come here or anywhere else so I still get baffled when bloggers just want to make their own rules. It’s just sad and ridiculous and they need to save their time, really.
[Reply]
YES!!! Now there is a rule we can all live with. YOUR blog is wonderful just the way it is. Change only as you feel lead to do so. Thanks for letting us all share in your savings.

your blog is just about my favorite!!!! i love everything you write and agree with just about everything. i’m trying to get started blogging and you are my inspiration. keep up the good work!!!!!

I like you the way you are – you are real and someone who I think I would enjoy having a cup of coffee with and eating some mexican. I choose to come to your site because of that…and there are an awful lot of sites I don’t go to because I don’t care for the personality of the blogger. We are all different – thank goodness.

I don’t want to conform to others b/c it’s MY blog and I can post and say what I want hehe! Thanks for the inspiration!
