cellfire Cellfire Electronic Coupons

Cellfire is another ecoupon site you can download coupons to your grocery shopper’s card to save!

As you previous read about Shortcuts and P&G Esaver, these e-coupons will be taken off at the register to reduce your grocery shopping totals. Only one e-coupon will be be taken off at the register (so not both a Cellfire e-coupon and a Shortcuts e-coupon).  And, e-coupons can NOT be stacked with manufacturer’s coupons (see my post on that here).

While most people think you have to have a cell phone, that is NOT the case!  While you don’t have to have a cell phone it does recognize the cell phone number you enter as your account #.   Here is what you will need to do if you want to create an account without a cell phone number or a entering a cell phone with texting:

1.  Click here to go to Cellfire.  Or, click on the Cellfire banner in my side bar.

2.  Complete the registration information, but instead of using a cell phone you can enter your home number. If for some reason, it tells you that number is not a recognized cell number then you can give them a different number. Or, you can use a cell phone number that doesn’t have texting capabilities (like my trac phone).

3.  Press “Send Now,” and you will be taken to a screen that says “Enter the 5-digit code that has been texted to you.” If you did use a cell phone with texting, you can enter this code. If NOT, just ignore the message and continue with the steps below.

If you are like me and did NOT get that 5-digit code since I used a phone without text to register, you will need to follow the remaining steps to get your account active. NOTE:   the previous steps still MUST be taken in order for the next steps to work:

1.  Click the “Deals” link at the top.

2.  Scroll down the page until you see the blue “Share Cellfire” button on the right, and don’t click on that button but instead click on the “Sign Up for Grocery Updates” link.

3.  Enter your information and be sure to enter the number that you registered above and the birth year you used too since your login information is your number and birth year (kinda weird, I know).

4.  To see all available e-coupons, click on “Deals” again and go to the grocery coupons.

5.  Hover your mouse over each coupon image (don’t click on the coupon image) and you will see the option to “Save to Card.”

6.  Click on “Save to Card” and that will open up a box to enter your Kroger (or other shopper’s) card. Once you’ve entered your card number for the first e-coupon, it has saved in your account, so will not get that prompt again. And, if you do click on the coupon, a box will open providing complete details and expiration dates.

That’s it! It was pretty painless as I really understood how to load the e-coupons without a phone that has texting! I hope this helps and gives you another way to save at the grocery!!

This snack link will be added to my Grocery Internet Printable Coupon List.

I actually had it take a cellfire and a shortcuts coupon off. I also had a manufacture coupon, so I got paid lots to buy toilet paper. I don’t know if it works all the time, but it worked once.

I just signed up for cellfire today, and while reading the FAQs noticed that it said that you cannot combine paper coupons with the cellfire coupons. Just thought I’d let you know. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Alex – I’m glad you signed up!

However, I just went through the FAQ’s again and didn’t see that exclusion of paper coupons anywhere. Can you point me to it?

I did see where it said that a Cellfire coupon can only be used once, maybe that’s what you were referring to..??

I am new to all this ecoupon stuff. I have signed up at 3 different sites. Sounds awesome! I have a questions, though….Do ecoupons double at Kroger like paper coupons do? For instance, if I have a 50 cent paper coupon that doubles to $1 and a 50 cent ecoupon, does the ecoupon double too, allowing me to get $2 off?

Thanks!

Lana,

Exciting stuff for you :-)

Ecoupons do not double but the good part is that you can use them with a paper coupon that does double for a little extra savings!

I’m so glad you broke it down for me… I tried signing up a month ago but I don’t have text either and it threw me off when it said I would have a code sent to me. I’m off to sign up for real this time. Thank you!

I have been doing shortcuts and cellfire for a couple of months. 3X now I have used 1 shortcuts cottonelle and 1 cellfire cottonelle as well as 2 25cent off cottonelle manufacturers coupons at Kroger at the same time to get 2 free 4pks of toilet paper. Also, everytime I have used cellfire coupons I always use them in conjunction with manufacturer coupons.

Good luck if you live in the Cincy area.

I have tried to use this service last month and this month.

My coupons load, I buy products and they never come off.

This has happened 5 times now, and everytime the process to try and get manual credit takes forever ( up to now, I stil have not gotten credit…because they need faxes of all this different parperwork ).

I finally called Kroger, and the their Marketing department called me back. They originally told me that it is only for the Atlanta area.

I called them back and told them that was not what their site and Cellfire said.

So, she apologized and said she wasn’t sure why it isn’t working….and sent me a $5 credit for the trouble.

But, up to now, still not working for me.

If anyone in the Cincy area gets it to work…can you let me know?

Thanks…I would love to use…but am really frustrated…as sometimes I only bought products becuse of their e coupon.

Carrie – I’ll let you know when I go and try.

I know that several locals have tried though and they have worked. Erin @ $5 Dinners has been using these a lot and she’s north of us.

Sometimes I’ve had issues with the Shortcuts q’s coming off too. And, I’m like you – I only buy them b/c of the ecoupon making it FREE (why ever would we pay for toothpaste :-)

So, if you sign up you will load your q’s online? I guess I had this weird image of having to load q’s onto my cell phone and somehow use my cell phone to scan the q’s off at checkout. LOL I’ve never signed up because I didn’t want to incure cell phone charges.

Thanks for breaking this down, Andrea. Very helpful as always! :)

Spunky – Yes, you will load all your q’s online – exactly the same as we load our q’s with the other e-coupon sites.

Ok, I did it and I live to tell the story. ;p

The only difference I encountered was after step #3, it prompted me to enter my zip, then sent me an e-mail confirmation. After that it put me to a page where there were options for a bunch of stores. I clicked on Kroger and saw all the q’s, so I continued with step #5.

When I clicked on the first q and said “save to card” it told me it couldn’t save it to my card, then had me sign in. Once I signed in and tried to load the q again it then prompted me for my card info. I was actually able to enter my phone # which is convenient cuz I didn’t have to run and get my purse.
Anyway, I was able to load q’s after that. Very cool! I hope it works at checkout.
I also chose the option to be e-mail alerted when new q’s are on the site. we’ll see if I get bombarded with e-mails or not.

I think there’s a bar cheese sale this week (need to re-check the ad) and there’s a bar cheese q on cellfire. I’ll try it out when I go to the store this week. Mmmm, cheese, crackers and some wine with my hubby over a good game of scrabble. :)

I’ll try again this week and see if anything has changed.

Keep me updated on if you get anything back.

I have had various results with cellfire ecoupons….while some work great and combine with paper q(never with shortcut q’s though, I have had several not work at all. I did go through the whole faxing them the reciept and all that jazz, but have not heard back yet (that was apx a month ago:( Oh well, I will take what I can get. PS. Shortcuts was great about a coupon not working– they gave me a credit on my card 5min after I filed the complaint… They are great!!!

Andrea, under the Grocery section at Cellfire, here’s what they say about combining coupons. This is what I was referring to in my previous comment. Thanks!

Q. Can I combine other coupons with Cellfire coupons?
A. Cellfire coupons are not valid with other coupons or for grocery store double manufacturer coupon programs. If you present a paper coupon along with a Cellfire coupon, your Cellfire coupon will not be reflected in your savings. Your Cellfire coupon will be saved for a future transaction.

Here is what happens when a Cellfire coupon rings up…..let’s say the item is cottonelle. The moment the cashier scans that cottonelle the cellfire coupon comes off right then. By the time she gets to your manufacturer coupons the cellfire has already been taken off.

Obviously they intended it not to work but it does.

I never had a clue it wasn’t supposed to take off the loadable and manufacturer. If it didn’t I wouldn’t even mess with cellfire

I just arrived home from Smith’s and read this and then checked my receipt. I bought two packs of cottonelle tp and on my receipt it shows that I used a MC from Cellfire, from Shortcuts, and two paper coupons. So they all worked together for me. 2 free packs of toilet paper. I was REALLY happy about that after my Albertson’s trip from hell (with my kids and my first time doing all this major coupon stuff and them being out of everything on the list). I love Smith’s.

I’m signed up and registered and even used Cellfire tonight at Dillons (thanks so much, I don’t have texting either!) but… I can only load 9 coupons. The thing says I should load up to 41 more, but I can’t find any more.

On your “step 2″ I don’t see “sign up for grocery updates” anywhere. I see share cellfire in blue, but not the other. Any ideas? Thanks!

21 Andrea @ Mommy Snacks.net January 3, 2009 at 4:43 pm

Amy – unfortunately I can no longer see that function since I’ve already added my Kroger card number (it must go away when you register your card), and that may be the case with you too since it sounds like you’ve loaded 9 coupons to your card.

And, since there aren’t many coupons to load, it will only allow you to load the grocery coupons that are available. You can, however, load other coupons (like for Hollywood video and others).

HTH!

On the Cellfire usage, I have contacted Cellfire over a month ago to respond for clarification and no one has given me a response. Because, while I’m not looking for a loop hole, I think that the wording is a little “grey” in my opinion. Cellfire obviously knows that it works and when there are other ecoupons as competition, I would think they would do the same.

If I hear something back from then, I’ll update here.

Thank you so much for posting this! I had looked at Cellfire a few weeks ago but gave up on it when I saw it talking about text messaging (which I don’t do and don’t want to start!). I appreciate your explaining how to do it without texting.

I am feeling like a fish out of water! I thought I was being so careful with our money, and now I am feeling a little clueless! I have 5 kids (17 to 4) a military hubby… and we eat plenty! I have tried to stay away from “boxed” meals as much as possible… Mac n cheese will be a big deal here for some time! I will be checking in to learn as I go! Would love to get some lunch box fillers from Little Debbie!!!

After some lab work I took the little ones for free kiddie cups at TCBY.

So all you have to do is load the ecoupons to your Kroger card and when they scan the card, the coupons come off?

[Reply]

mommysnacks Reply:

Carolyn, yes. It really is that easy. They will come off of your receipt right underneath the product whereas a manufacturer coupon shows up at the bottom of your receipt.
